FEATURED EVENT:

1st Thursday is an evening of art and culture in downtown Santa Barbara. On the first Thursday of each month, participating galleries and other art-related venues offer free access to art in a fun and social environment from 5-8 p.m. 1st Thursday venues also provide additional attractions, such as art openings, live music, artists' receptions, lectures, wine tastings, and hands-on activities. In addition to gallery receptions, State Street comes alive on 1st Thursday with performances and interactive exhibits.

SAVED PLACES
An Exhibition & Sale of Paintings to Benefit the Environmental Defense Center

During the month of February, The Oak Group and guests will be exhibiting paintings and photographs as a benefit for the Environmental Defense Center, focusing on the precious local landscapes EDC has fought to protect. From San Luis Obispo to Ventura, the preservation of open space continues to be a priority for EDC as well as the group of 24 landscape artists and guests, who have been painting to save our environment for over twenty years. With a variety of mediums and wide ranging artistic approaches, this show illustrates the beauty of our natural heritage.

Opening reception: Saturday, February 6 / 5-7pm


Dug Uyesaka exhibits regularly at the AFS Gallery and was the Assemblage Muse in 2008.
He also teaches at Laguna Blanca School and is the 2nd District County Arts Commissioner for Santa Barbara County.

Dan Levin is a prolific assemblage artist who has recently returned to Santa Barbara.

Bob Debris worked with students from El Puente School at Art From Scrap in 2009, resulting in the Pictures exhibit at the AFS Gallery.
